Paul Senghas was born on January 31, 1916 in Böttingen (Krs. Heilbronn, Baden-Würtemberg) as the son of a police chief; After completing secondary and higher commercial schools, he completed a commercial apprenticeship.

On July 19, 1935, he joined the SS disposal force (later the Waffen SS) in Arolsen (Hesse) as a volunteer. After the Polish and French campaigns, where he acquired the Iron Cross 2nd Class on June 20, 1940, Senghas was deployed with the 1st / SS Armored Regiment 5 "Wiking" in the south of the Soviet Union, where he was already on December 15, 1941 as a Scharführer received EK 1.
