* 23. Juni 1534; † 21. Juni 1582) war einer der stärksten Kriegsherren (Daimyo) während der Sengoku-Zeit (sengoku jidai 1467-1568, dt. Zeit der streitenden Reiche) in Japan. Er brach die politische Macht der Buddhisten. Durch Talentförderung, die Vernichtung der bisherigen Autorität, eine revolutionäre Politik und die Anwendung importierter Feuerwaffen vereinte er den größten Teil Japans, bevor er in Kyoto während eines Aufstands (honnouji no hen) seines Untergebenen Akechi Mitsuhide getötet wurde.
