The "companion piece" to DD076 is our seated at his typewriter "Ernie
Pyle" War Correspondent. This terrific little figure is full of
character another "tribute" to the war correspondent Ernie Pyle who
wrote the classic "The Story of G.I. Joe" which was later made into a
great WW2 movie starring Robert Mitchum and Burgess Meredith as Pyle
himself. Sadly, Ernie was killed later in the war.

This latest "Strictly Limited" shows supreme Allied Commander General Dwight D. Eisenhower on a tour of inspection somewhere in southern England in the spring of 1944. His U.S. Army Staff Car comes complete with a female WAC driver. At Eisenhower's side is Kay Summersby, his personal driver when he arrived in Britain in 1942. Over the next three years she proved invaluable to him and took care of many of his domestic and personal tasks. During this time Summersby became a U.S. citizen and was commissioned into the U.S. Women's Army Corps (WAC's) leaving the service as a Captain in 1947.
