The invasion of Vietnam by the Chinese People's Liberation Army on February 17, 1979 is known as the Sino-Vietnamese War. The trigger for the military conflict was the Vietnamese crackdown on the Khmer Rouge, allied with China, in Cambodia. China occupied some border towns in Vietnam and withdrew after fierce fighting without being able to end the Vietnamese interference in Cambodia. (c) Wikipedia
