Uesugi Kenshin (born February 18, 1530 and died April 19, 1578) was a daimyo of the Japanese Sengoku period and one of the most dazzling heroic figures of that era. His reputation as archrival Takeda Shingen as well as the incarnation of the Shinto Buddhist war god Bishamonten is legendary.
